On October 12th of last year Eric Coleman died in his home under mysterious circumstances.
After not hearing from him for a number of days, Coleman's family requested that the Benton Harbor Police Department do a welfare check. They discovered Coleman dead in his Fairview home at the age of 32, the victim of an apparent drug overdose.
The victim's mother called him a good-matured person with a big heart. Friends, neighbors and family described him as a friendly person who truly cared about the people in his life, a generous person who was much beloved. He left behind a son who was only about a year and a half old.
Coleman had been an athlete until he was badly injured in a snowmobiling accident in 2001. He was left physically disabled. For this reason it's believed someone else was in the home the night of his death, as there was evidence that someone had been up in his attic. He would not have been able to go up there with his physical limitations.
The police do not suspect that he was murdered, however if someone was in the residence with Coleman that night they could provide information that would explain the mysterious death to his family.
