Do Or Die

Let me be brief.

I wasn’t going to write anything until after the game tonight. I was pretty mad after the Game 3 loss. This would have been a very different piece Monday night.

But here it is.

Game Four of the Final at the Madhouse On Madison is the entire season.

Granted, a win or loss means there is still a bit of the Cup Final to go, but this is the definition of Must-Win for Chicago. A second loss at home is a death sentence against Tampa. The Hawks are far too evenly matched with them to expect to win two games in Florida.

Tonight everyone has to step up. No more missing yawning nets. No more defensive inconsistency. No more Patrick Sharp watching the game rather than playing in it. No more passing like mini mites.

No more screwing around.

Chicago has been blessed with one of the truly elite lineups in recent NHL history, one that you could argue is in the conversation with the Red Wing teams of the 90s as a dominating presence in terms of personnel. They are underachieving on a painful level in this Final, and though we fans know they’ve been here before it doesn’t make it any easier to watch it.

I have no stats today, no predictions, no analysis of Ben Bishop who stoned us through obvious injury and a pathetic dive.

I have only the belief that the Blackhawks have what it takes to get their third Cup in this decade. This is a team that knows how to rally. But they have to quit waiting for the moment. The moment is now.

GO HAWKS!
