It's weird, sometimes, where they come from.
Hastily scribbled some notes last night while trying to go to sleep. This happens a lot, always has, and writing whatever it is down somewhere is usually the only way to get the brain to shut down for the night.
One character in the new story has a name that I liked at first, but has now proven clunky to write around and I don't like the way it rolls.
So a new first name hit me last night (while watching a beloved TV show) and the name fits perfectly with the last name (which I still like). And while renaming this character I also came up with a new backstory for her, one that better fits the narrative and will resolve a problem I was going to have in the middle of the narrative.
Like I said: Sometimes it's just weird.
